Get a replacement for your missing tooth with a fully functional dental implant from Solar Dental Specialties. Dental implants are the replacement of tooth roots in the mouth. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth.
The implantation process
Dental implants, which are placed in the jaw, are small anchors made of a biocompatible metal called titanium. The anchors begin to fuse with the bone over the course of a few months. After the fusing process, known as osseointegration, abutment posts are inserted into the anchors to allow for permanent attachment of the replacement teeth.
The entire process for your implants takes several months. First, we place your implant by making an incision in your gum and placing screws into your jawbone. After the implants are placed, your gums are sutured to heal.
You’ll need to give your implant 3-6 months to heal, during which time your jawbone forms around the implant. Temporary crowns can be installed to allow you normal speaking and eating, and to maintain a great smile during the process.
A permanent solution
Once your implant has healed, we place an abutment on the implant to be the base for your new tooth or teeth. Once we’ve placed this, we take an impression which is used to create your new permanent restoration.
Once your restoration is complete, come back to our office for permanent attachment. Your smile will return to the full, beautiful smile you’re used to. Soon your new implant will feel like a tooth that’s always been there!
